Women’s Organization CEO Slams Tiger Woods

The golf legend was criticized by a women's empowerment organization for a tampon gag he made on Thursday at the Genesis Invitational, during his first PGA Tour match in seven months.

According to Kara Sugar, CEO of the Women's Global Empowerment Fund, Woods' prank was "misogynistic," "tone-deaf," and “straight-up disrespectful to women and girls all over the world.”

She continued, questioning if Woods is indicating that “periods are embarrassing or shameful or a sign of weakness?”

In order to combat gender inequality, the non-profit organization, which has its headquarters in Denver, Colorado, supports women through political, social, and economic initiatives

Many people criticized Woods on social media, but some people also stood up for him.

Paige Spiranac, a former professional golfer who is now an influencer, tweeted: “If anyone tries to cancel Tiger over this we riot. It’s funny.”

On Friday after his second round, Woods apologized and said it wasn't meant to be sexist. “If I offended anybody in any way, shape, or form, I’m sorry.”
