What's The Obstacle Faced By The Bears To Build A New Stadium?

The governor of Illinois said that the state would not pay any of the costs for the billion-dollar project, which will put a damper on the Chicago Bears' ambitions to construct a new stadium in the upcoming years.

Gov. JB Pritzker was asked if the state would assist pay for the team's development plans in Arlington Heights during a visit to Peoria, Illinois, this week.

Because of the advantages that both groups and local governments may gain from a project like building a new stadium, this is a typical practice.

Pritzker said, “I am of the opinion that it’s not our obligation as the state to step in and provide major funding, and I certainly don’t want to burden taxpayers with major support for a private business."

The franchise spent $197 million to acquire the land that the former Arlington Heights Racetrack occupied in 2021, starting the process for future construction.

Since then, the Bears have made known their plans to build a vast $5 billion entertainment complex around a $2.2 billion dome-shaped stadium.

The state of Illinois' top official is unwilling to provide funding to a "private corporation" like the Chicago Bears in order to complete the project, even though such a development would likely need some aid from the government.

If and when a new stadium is constructed, Bears quarterback Justin Fields only has one stipulation for the new facility.
