Never let it be said that the XFL lacks the ability to generate buzz in the media, whether on purpose or unintentionally.

The D.C. Defenders' supporters made it a custom to construct a lengthy beer cup stack-snake during their games during the 2020 XFL season.

Fans attempted to stack the cups, but it seems the new XFL didn't want to honor the "tradition" and took them away.

Once the cups were taken away in the third quarter, the crowd started tossing lemons onto the field in protest. As a result, the referee had to halt the game to ensure the safety of the players. Yet they never removed the lemons from the playing area.

Photos reveal that once everything was said and done, a few dozen lemons remained on the ground. The fans, on the other hand, were ecstatic about how outrageous everything was

Paradoxically, the Defenders' ability to pull off the victory may have been sparked by the lemon flinging. After this occurrence, DC came back to win the game despite being down 10 points.

In conclusion, the first weekend of the third season of the XFL may not have been the resounding financial success that many had anticipated.
