Shocking Message From Jim Leonhard
Jim Leonhard appeared to be the Philadelphia Eagles' man at first, but the club is apparently still looking for a defensive coordinator.
"The #Eagles and Jim Leonhard mutually decided they would not move forward with his DC candidacy, per league sources.
“ Leonhard had planned to undergo hip surgery and sit out coaching for a year, but when Eagles job opened, both sides had an interest in discussing the position, which they did last week. Ultimately, they decided it wasn't the right time."
The Leonhard news sparked discussion among football fans on Wednesday.
"I feel like it was always gonna be Vance Joseph once that interview became public. To go to a 1st time NFL DC after a half away from a Super Bowl win is a big-time risk.
If we were rebuilding, sure. Still think he'd be a [fire] hire someday. Gotta be Joseph's job to lose now?"
"Would be a great move for both sides," replied Adam Rittenberg. "Leonhard so respected in both college and NFL circles.
