After six years as Kelly Rippa's co-host on the ABC morning show, Ryan Seacrest is leaving his job.

"I made the decision to make this my last season as co-host with Kell here on Live with Kelly and Ryan, ... which is bittersweet," Seacrest said.

He added that he'd been thinking about the move "for a long time."

Now Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos will take over Seacrest and the show will become Live with Kelly and Mark.

Ryan joked that he would miss his "work wife" and said that the reason he kept extending his contract was that he enjoyed working with Ripa so much.

On broadcast, While talking about Seacrest, Ripa called him a gem and one of her best friends.

The audience will still have several chances to watch Seacrest despite his upcoming leaving.

He will continue to appear on the program until the spring, after which he will become a guest host while filming the 21st season of American Idol in Los Angeles.
