Russell Wilson's Response To Pete Carroll's Firing Report

Russell Wilson reportedly advocated for the firing of general manager John Schneider and head coach Pete Carroll before leaving Seattle, according to recent stories from The Athletic.

Reports claim that Wilson wanted Carroll fired so that Sean Payton, who is now the head coach in Denver, could take over

On Friday morning, Wilson denied these rumors on Twitter

"I love Pete and he was a father figure to me and John believed in me and drafted me as well. I never wanted them fired. All any of us wanted was to win. I’ll always have respect for them and love for Seattle," Russell Wilson said.

Wilson was traded to Denver before the 2022 season in return for a tonne of draft picks, instead of the Seahawks cutting ties with Carroll and Schneider

Wilson was the quarterback for the Broncos, who faltered, while the Seahawks made an unexpected playoff run.

Now that Wilson reportedly received his reported requests at the head coach job, we'll see if he can return in 2023.
