With 1:29 left in the second half, McCaffery received a technical foul penalty and simply stared at the official. They took a stride closer to one another in silence before McCaffery turned and left.

The incident tickled another Big Ten coach. Adam Jardy of The Columbus Dispatch reports that Chris Holtmann referred to the confrontation as "some excellent Entertainment."

"We all know Fran," Holtmann said. "Fran can run hot, and I don’t know what you do in that situation because the official, Kelly, kind of stepped toward Fran."

The scenario reminded Holtmann of "those classic Westerns we used to watch," he said. Additionally, he praised Iowa's "great squad," which advanced to 18-11 after the ferocious comeback.
