By Mirza Danish BAig

Golf's status as a sport has been subject to debate for many years. During a Barstool Sports discussion, Max Homa shared his views on the matter.

Homa's view on this topic isn't particularly strong. He most likely holds to the "golf is not a sport" mentality, though.

"Man, I'm like very middle. It's active. It does warm my heart when my friends who are real athletes go play golf and tell me the next day their back hurts, their shoulders hurt," Homa said. "I'm like, see, it's f---ing dangerous. But it's probably not [a sport]."

If golfers had to carry their own clubs, Homa's view on the matter would apparently change.

"I think if we had to carry around our own clubs I'd consider it a sport," Homa told Barstool Sports.

It's a little surprising that Homa has such negative feelings towards golf, particularly given how well-known he has become.

Homa has six PGA Tour victories and recently finished second in the Genesis Invitational.
