Longtime Panthers Assistant Coach Joining The Giants
A former Carolina Panthers assistant is allegedly joining the New York Giants team.
The Charlotte Observer's Mike Kaye reports that Jeff Nixon will be hired by the Giants to teach their running backs. Nixon worked for the Panthers in the same capacity before being promoted to associate head coach in 2022.
After the Panthers moved Christian McCaffrey last season, Nixon was lauded for his capacity for adaptation.
Under Nixon, D'Onta Foreman and Chuba Hubbard both developed into reliable running backs, and they should be well-positioned to do well in Carolina with Frank Reich and Thomas Brown's new system.
Nixon has worked with one of the league's most explosive running backs, McCaffrey, and he might be able to do the same with Saquon Barkley, assuming Barkley's contract issue is resolved.
Last season, the Giants managed to stun a number of people, in large part because of Barkley's comeback. When Barkley was fully recovered, he was able to reclaim his position as one of the top running backs in the League.
Barkley will have the opportunity to add yet another stellar campaign to his expanding résumé with Jeff Nixon as his new running backs coach.
