Legendary College Basketball Coach's Death

Terry Holland, a former men's basketball coach at Virginia and a two-time ACC Coach of the Year, passed away on Monday, leaving the collegiate basketball world with a tremendous loss.

After an amazing career that saw him win more than 400 games from 1969 to 1989, Holland died away at the age of 80.

He oversaw the Cavaliers' participation in two Final Fours, nine NCAA Tourney trips, and the recruitment of the illustrious Ralph Sampson to Charlottesville.

Holland, who was recently committed to a memory care center, had been given an Alzheimer's Disease diagnosis back in 2019.

"Saddened by the passing of former Virginia head coach Terry Holland, one of the ACC's greatest coaches, and one of the game's finest gentlemen," Jay Bilas tweeted. "RIP Coach Holland."
