Kelly Slater's Decision On His Surfing Career

Kelly Slater, a legendary surfer, isn't quite ready to put his board away just yet.

"If I make the Olympics, I'll retire at the Olympics," Slater said, via the official Olympics Twitter account.

In a recent chat with the Australian newspaper Guardian, Slater discussed his Olympian aspirations.

“I’m really hoping to qualify for it, but I need to get my butt into gear,” Slater said.

“The qualification process is going to be tough, but if I can get into the Olympics, the location the event is at in Tahiti – that wave really suits my strengths”.

Slater has earned three Triple Crown of Surfing titles in addition to his 11 World Championship titles and has been inducted into the Surfers' Hall of Fame.
