 Joe Buck Pays Honor To Legendary Broadcaster Tim McCarver

Tim McCarver, a great broadcaster, collaborated with Joe Buck for a number of years on FOX.

 When Joe Buck heard about McCarver's death on Thursday at the age of 81, he talked about McCarver’s Impact on his life on "The Michael Kay Show".

Before teaming up with McCarver for the first time in 1996, Buck's well-known father Jack actually called games alongside the former longtime MLB catcher.

Fortunately, Jack Buck's son had a different working relationship with McCarver than his father had.

"I could make a baseball point as a 27-year-old no-nothing kid basically, and he would take it in. Maybe argue it, maybe just accept it.” Buck told Michael Kay.

 He added, “When he did that, this young guy (me) had a little more credibility than I had before I started that sentence,"

He further added, "I owe him so much for being that way with me at a pretty fragile time in my broadcast career."

 McCarver had a long career calling MLB games for NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX, the four main television networks.

He and Buck were FOX's top baseball broadcasting duo from 1996 until 2013. Also, at various periods in his career, McCarver worked as a local game announcer for the Phillies, Mets, and Yankees.
