Jim Harbaugh Announces Michigan Is Swapping Positions

College football's adaptability enables managers to make unusual roster decisions, such as shifting players between positions

Coach Jim Harbaugh is describing why one Michigan player is moving to the other side of the field.

Amorion Walker, a former wide receiver, will move to defensive back, according to Harbaugh.

"There's no doubt in my mind that he would excel and thrive both as a wide receiver and as a defensive back, as a corner," Harbaugh said.

"Just really tried to find the absolute best position for him for his career. Where’s he going to make the greatest impact over the course of his career, benefit the most from his football ability?"

Walker will probably get more opportunities on the pitch as a result of switching positions.

Harbaugh, based on what he has seen from Walker at the position thus far, the wide receiver who played in 3 games as a wide receiver last season is projected to start at defensive back.

Walker will probably get some playing time on both sides of the ball once he settles in as a defender, according to Harbaugh.

"The vision would be that someday he will be a great corner and a receiver as well in college," Harbaugh said
