Former NBA First-Round Pick Reportedly Being Released By Orlando Magic
According to reports, one of the most divisive first-round choices from the 2020 NBA Draft may be available shortly.
The Magic have released RJ Hampton, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The Bucks picked Hampton with the 24th overall choice in the 2020 NBA Draft. Then, in a four-team transaction, his draught rights were swapped to the Nuggets.
Hampton had a minor role for the Nuggets in 25 games, averaging 2.6 points and 2.0 rebounds. In March 2021, he was then dealt to the Magic.
In Orlando, Hampton's output with the Magic gradually decreased after a strong start.
For the Magic this season, Hampton averaged 5.7 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
This season, it wouldn't be shocking to see another team take a risk on Hampton. Fair enough, he's only 22 and shows promise.
