Football Assistant Removes Name From NFL  Job

One applicant has withdrawn from consideration for the position of defensive coordinator for the Philly Eagles.

The reason for the former Wisconsin defensive coordinator's decision to withdraw from the race is hip surgery, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

Leonhard is planning to not coach in 2023 because of it.

After Jonathan Gannon resigned to become the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, Leonhard conducted an audition for the position last week.

Before leaving the Wisconsin school after the 2017 season, Leonhard was a member of the team from 2016 to 22.

Before being given the position of defensive coordinator in 2017, he was the defensive backs coach.
