Dick Vitale 'shocked' By Nate Oats'

Dick Vitale is troubled by Nate Oats' reaction to the disturbing story developing in Alabama, as is the majority of those watching the situation.

The handgun used to fire Jamea Jonae Harris, 23, to death was delivered to Darius Miles by men's basketball star Brandon Miller, according to police testimony.

Miller won't be punished, according to the head coach of the Crimson Tide, who also claimed that Miller was in the "wrong place at the wrong moment."

On Wednesday, Vitale voiced his surprise at the circumstances and how they were handled.

"I was SHOCKED by the comments of Nate Oats yesterday but I am doubly SHOCKED that superstar Brandon MIller is scheduled to play tonight," Vitale wrote. "Isn’t providing a gun to a teammate that was used in a murder a serious offense?"

Following Harris' passing on the campus of Alabama on January 15, Miles and Michael Lynn Davis are accused of Harris's criminal murder. Miles, who was later dismissed from the squad, acknowledged lending Davis the firearm.

Nevertheless, Miller won't be prosecuted. Oats added that the group was aware of Miller's role in the tragic event.

"Can’t control everything anybody does outside of practice. Nobody knew that was going to happen," Oats said.

"College kids are out, Brandon hasn’t been in any type of trouble nor is he in any type of trouble in this case."
