Legendary former Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski saw his old team defeat Notre Dame at home on Tuesday night in his first Blue Devil game as a fan.

With only a few seconds left, Duke took the lead for good, opening with a crucial three-pointer by freshman big Mark Mitchell.

The shot put the Blue Devils ahead 66-62--they eventually won 68-64--and threw the Cameron Indoor Stadium Crowd into a frenzy. Coach K, on the other hand, simply observed the activity with composure.

Probably the truest statement was that final one. Even though Krzyzewski was certainly thrilled by Mitchell's shot, he is not going to go wild like a fan.

Coach K's longtime assistant at Duke and subsequently conference rival at Notre Dame, Mike Brey, was in charge of the Fighting Irish for their final game at Cameron.

That was a key factor in Krzyzewski's decision to enter the building after staying away from Duke games this season.

We'd wager a lot of money that he wasn't cheering against his beloved Blue Devils, though, and that he was pleased to see Jon Scheyer, his replacement, achieve a crucial victory as the club seeks to qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
